Dr. Nwaogwugwu has more than 12 years experience working in the healthcare field. She is board certified in Internal Medicine, receiving her MD from State University of New York Downstate Medical Center and completing her residency at the University Hospital of Brooklyn. She is currently licensed in Texas and recently joined our Westside location in Houston.

Prior to joining CenterWell, Dr. Nwaogwugwu worked as a Hospitalist teaching attending for several hospitals in the Northeast. Since moving to Houston 4 years ago, she has focused on complex, chronic conditions in her work with seniors and the disabled. She has served as the Associate Medical Director of Accredited Hospice of America and later as Assistant Medical Director of United Palliative and Hospice Care in Houston.

Dr. Nwaogwugwu was born and raised in Queens, NY. She comes from a family of doctors, so her choice of profession was in her DNA. What she enjoys most about being a physician is building relationships with her patients and developing trust. She says that the “right relationship” with patients is one that has openness and honesty, and where the patient feels comfortable asking questions and talking about anything. Her philosophy of care is that everyone deserves superior care. “Treat others as you want to be treated” are the words she lives by.

When she is not caring for patients, Dr. Nwaogwugwu enjoys crafting, woodworking, reading, and spending time with her husband and 4 children. She is also active in her church, teaching children ages 2-4.
