Dr. Leon is a General Practice physician who’s joined our Hunter’s Creek center in the Greater Orlando area. She hails from Puerto Rico, attended Ponce Health Sciences University School of Medicine as well as Pontifical Catholic University School of Medical Technology, and completed her residency at Damas Hospital, also on the island. Her academic achievements include making the Dean’s list and earning magna cum laude distinction as an undergraduate in Biomedical Sciences at the University of Puerto Rico; she is fluently bilingual in English and Spanish. Dr. Leon’s medical training emphasized the reality of a fast-growing, aging population, and in her three years of post-graduate experience, her patients, for the most part, have been seniors. During that time, Leon says she gained experience building rapport with patients, helping to manage conditions like chronic kidney disease, heart failure, end-stage renal disease, and diabetes. As a result of her experience, Dr. Leon has embraced the team-based, patient-centered philosophy of care, which makes her an excellent fit for our center. What Dr. Leon likes about CenterWell is the diversity of the team, the culture, the focus on developing rapport, setting expectations, and consideration of patient values. Leon admits she chose a difficult but “incredibly rewarding” profession, as it gives her the opportunity to make a positive impact on people’s lives – and she believes that the ideal patient-doctor relationship is built on trust. In her downtime, Dr. Leon likes to spend quality time with family and friends, travel, and visit new places. She also enjoys being creative with sketching and painting with watercolors. The words she lives by? “The world belongs to the bold and the brave.”
