Dr. Stueve is a board-certified physician with 26 years of experience in Family Medicine and Primary Care. He studied at the University of Kansas, with a residency at St. Paul-Ramsey Medical Center in Minnesota.
According to Dr. Stueve, becoming a doctor meant he could “be a scientist and work with people,” and it’s the people, his patients, he enjoys most about his role. Prior to joining our center in Independence, MO, Dr. Stueve spent three years as a physician POD leader at Landmark Health, managing the care of high-risk Medicare Advantage patients using an interdisciplinary, collaborative, team-based approach. He spent 14 years as a family physician at Lawrence Memorial Hospital, and subsequently, two years as Director of Primary Care with Heartland Community Health Center. Here at CenterWell, Stueve finds himself among “great coworkers and leadership,” as he puts it.
Dr. Stueve’s philosophy of care is: Do more for the patient and less to them. He uses a patient-centered approach that incorporates social determinants to improve health outcomes, consistent with his patients' goals. He also has experience providing a palliative approach to patients with limited life expectancies or significant impairments in their functional capacity. To Dr. Stueve, collaboration and shared decision-making are the ingredients for a good doctor-patient relationship, and asking patients what their goals are — and helping them reach those goals — is his formula for patient satisfaction.
Aspiring to fluency in Russian, you can find Dr. Stueve spending his non-working hours with his bilingual family, which includes, his spouse, (a native Russian speaker) two sons, cocker spaniel – and parakeets!
