Donessa Fraser always wanted to have the opportunity to touch people’s lives to alleviate pain and suffering, and improve wellbeing. Becoming a doctor fulfilled that calling, and as a board-certified Family Medicine physician, Dr. Fraser has been practicing her profession for 22 years.
Before joining CenterWell, Dr. Fraser worked as a primary care provider in both outpatient and inpatient settings, where most of the patients in her care were seniors. She also spent three years managing patients in a nursing home. Fraser says that her previous roles have given her experience in catering to the unique medical needs of the elderly.
At CenterWell, Dr. Fraser loves the team approach to taking care of patients and admires the resources at her disposal that enable her to provide excellent patient-centered care. Understanding patients’ needs and encouraging them to actively participate in their health choices is how she ensures their satisfaction. The ideal patient-provider relationship, according to Fraser, is one that’s patient-centered and provides excellent care tailored to the needs of the individual patient.
On a personal note, Dr. Fraser is proud of her ability to be resilient and remain calm under stress, and shares that making others smile is always guaranteed to make her smile. She is married, has two adult children, and her hobbies include studying new languages, learning piano, painting, jewelry-making, and gardening.
