A board-certified Adult Geriatric Nurse Practitioner, Kristalyn Pepper recently joined our Care Team in Shreveport, LA with eight years of experience in health care. Her specialties are Adult Geriatrics, Primary Care and Cardiology, and she holds a master’s in nursing from Northwestern State University.
Kristalyn’s work with seniors began as a teenager, when she was a certified nurse’s aide at a local nursing home. Over the years, the majority of her patients have been adults over the age of 50 in hospital, acute care, and end-of-life settings. Before coming to CenterWell, Kristalyn worked as an Adult Gerontology Nurse Practitioner for Advanced Cardiovascular Specialists in Shreveport for a year-and-a-half. Prior to that, she was a Stroke and Medical ICU Registered Nurse at Ochsners LSU Health for two years and a Critical Care Registered Nurse at Christus Health for five years before that.
Since cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death globally, Kristalyn is excited to incorporate her cardiology nurse practitioner experience into her primary care practice. She loves being “that force of change” in her patients’ healthcare journey, and her goal is to treat each patient as a valued family member. Kristalyn believes in developing a long-lasting patient-provider relationship based on trust, empathy and education, so her patients can understand and share in their healthcare decision-making. “I believe a patient should receive time with their provider and know them at both a professional and personal level,” she adds. Lucky for Kristalyn, CenterWell shares her philosophy!
Kristalyn is an avid LSU and Saints fan, loves reading and doing puzzles. She is married and in March of 2023 is expecting her first baby, a boy.
