Akshai Lakhanpal, M.D.

Dr. Akshai Lakhanpal joined CenterWell as an Internal Medicine specialist. A graduate of Vanderbilt University in Nashville TN, Dr. Lakhanpal, better known as "Dr. L” to his patients & fellow Team staff members, earned his medical degree from St. George's University School of Medicine.  He completed his Internal Medicine Internship & Residency training at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, in Omaha NE.  He then served as a Chief Resident, at Suburban Community Hospital located in Philadelphia PA.

Before joining CenterWell in 2023, Dr. Lakhanpal practiced Internal Medicine most recently with WellMed-Optum & previously with Griego Family Medical Centre-Metroplex Medical Centres. These experiences caring for older adults showed him the many factors that contribute to his patients' and their families' physical, mental, and emotional well-being.  In addition, his time directly caring for his chronically ill mother, gave him unique insight on the healthcare system's strengths and weaknesses from the perspective of patients and their caregivers.  Dr. L especially appreciates CenterWell's holistic approach to patient care which is foundational in Dr. L’s style to practicing Medicine.

Dr. Lakhanpal chose a career in Medicine to help people, especially those who might not otherwise receive the appropriate cares & attention of which he feels we are all deserving.  He approaches his patients like Family, doing his best to treat them the way he would want a Physician to care for his loved ones.  In his free time, Dr. L enjoys spending as much time as possible with his family, watching movies, sketching, and drawing.
